Talisman is a textural, joyful exploration of the wish-fulfilling jewel, in which steppe aesthetics are fused with Himalayan traditions. We may never fully see the architecture of our inscape but are inexplicably drawn to pursue it. Each time we return to ourselves with more knowledge, we are faced again with the unknown- maybe there’s a certain peace in knowing that this is the nature of life. The piece suspends disbelief. This in turn, is an act of faith.
In this work, crisp, atmospheric blues collide with raw, earthy textures, giving the impression of a windswept mountainside. The viewer is confronted with the untranslatable nature of a double-headed centaur- an unconquerable spirit leaping toward an unwritten future.
Beyond gestural beauty, this piece is a meditation on territorial and spiritual sovereignty. The centaur represents a natural custodian, reclaiming land and self from colonial narratives. The textured threshold, made with sand and impasto, represents hope. This painting holds both wild adventure and quiet, intellectual defiance as a testament to multiple truths existing simultaneously.
